Doreen Morrison 

We were sorry to hear that Rev. Dr. Doreen Morrison, a historian, author, chaplain, and advocate for Jamaica’s emancipatory history, died on 22nd April 2025. 

Doreen did important work in the area of Jamaican Baptist history, publishing Slavery’s Heroes: George Lisle and the Ethiopian Baptists of Jamaica 1783-1865 (2014) and George Lisle: A Faith That Couldn’t Be Denied (Wipf & Stock, 2022), illuminating the contributions of African Jamaican Baptists to emancipation. 

In her work and life she leaves an important legacy to Baptist history.
